Coco Palms Hotel Resort (rebuild) – Kauai – This famous hotel is best known for where they filmed “Blue Hawaii” with Elvis Presley, although many feature movies were filmed at Coco Palms, including “Pirates of the Caribbean”. Coco Palms Hotel Resort was frequented by many legendary movie stars, such as Frank Sinatra, Rita Hayworth, and Esther Williams. The hotel was destroyed in 1992 by Hurricane Iniki and has remained in ruins for all these years. Currently, demolition is in progress and further funding is in progress. A group of architectural firms is involved in the project and it is in the plans that Tropical Architecture Group, Inc. (TAG) will design the 11 cottages, including the Elvis Cottage. In addition, TAG will design the wedding chapel and the restaurant bar.
